#TestimonyTuesday 4/29/14

4/29/2014

Comments

The testimony of Jesus Christ is the spirit of prophecy. I testify of what Jesus has done in my life so that your faith is ignited and leads you to seek Him for the same and more for your life.
**My apologies ... so much of this testimony was cut off. I know with my "knower" that I'll have a full production team in the future because I'm doing what I can with what I have. That's something that didn't make it in the video so I'll share it here.

I had a friend in Arizona in 2011 who would always say, "Do what you can with what you have," and I hated the saying at the time. I had nothing and only wanted rescue so the truth of it didn't matter. But now I'm doing what I can with what I have and it's pleasing God and I'm reaping the rewards of it now and will in the future, too. Doing what I can to honor and obey God with what I have is a seed that's producing the 30, 60, 100-fold harvest in my life.

The revelation that I'll have a proper production system in the future came while I was attempting to record this testimony segment. I almost gave the enemy credit for messing me up and then I said I wouldn't give them the testimony, I'd keep my focus on Jesus. That's when the promise was dropped in my spirit. I overcame by the blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony of Jesus.

Don't miss the blessings God has for you because you're not using what He's already given you. If you don't plant what's already in you, He can't explode a harvest in your life.

Does anyone remember the movie Rudy about the small-in-stature young man who had the heart of a lion? In one scene he was running top speed towards his opponent and constantly getting knocked down. He’d pop up and go at it again, only to get knocked back down. After painfully watching him do this several times I must admit that I began to question his sanity. I mean, who does that? Who voluntarily places themselves in a situation that guarantees swift opposition and fierce battles? And it was then that I heard that still, small voice say, “Those who choose to sincerely follow Me.”

Choosing to sincerely follow GOD is both glorious and painful. It’s beautiful and sweet because you experience extraordinary encounters with GOD. He reveals Himself to you in jaw-dropping ways. You get the immense pleasure of being in His glorious presence and become more sensitive to His voice, thus receiving heavenly guidance and revelation. But you will also encounter fierce and wicked opposition in an effort to get you to retreat. It’s important to realize and accept that you will make countless mistakes and you will fall time and time again. Interestingly enough, falling is part of spiritual growth as you come to realize your dire need for GOD’s grace. If you didn’t fall you wouldn’t need the Holy Spirit. If you didn’t fall you would be sinless like Jesus. You may fall a hundred times a day but it’s important to remember that a hundred times a day you are forgiven (1 John 1:9).

As I’ve gotten older I realize that when I fall I don’t just pop up like I did when I was younger. I mean I sit for a good minute, but I know that I have to get up. With some trials we are able to pop up and quickly move forward but some take the very air out of our chests and we need to sit and be ministered to by GOD for a while; to remind us that we are forgiven, to soothe our sorrows and to regain strength to get back up to fight. There’s a constant, vicious battle for our peace, joy, heart and relationship with GOD. And this battle is not for the faint of heart (1 Corinthians 9:26, 2 Timothy 2:3-5). But ‘greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world’ (1 John 4:4); we do not fight alone. In fact, you can't fight this battle alone. Because this battle is not against flesh and blood but occurs in the spiritual realm (Ephesians 6:12). When you became a Christian you signed up to be a warrior. And GOD in all of His glory has provided everything you need to be successful conquerors (Romans 8:37). The weapons of our warfare are prayer, fasting, praise, the Word of GOD, spending time in His presence and suiting up with the armor of GOD (2 Corinthians 10:3-5, Ephesians 6:11-12). This is how we, as followers of Christ plant our feet and stand our ground.

The Bible says that we are to consider the cost of following Jesus (Luke 14:25-35). We are no longer our own but have been bought with a price (1 Corinthians 6:20, 7:23). Many will fall away and retreat to that which is easy, comfortable and simple; choosing to walk the road of least resistance and satisfying the desires of the flesh (Luke 9:62). If this has happened to you my friend, it’s not too late to dust yourself off and suit back up. I know it’s hard. I do. Just don’t stay down. Get alone with GOD and tell Him how much it hurts. Ask Him to strengthen and forgive you. He will honor your heartfelt prayer. I know He will.

So, my friend what opposition are you facing that’s tempting you to retreat? Is it discouragement, depression or fear? Could it be an unanswered prayer or deep disappointment? Perhaps it’s weariness of carrying heavy financial, emotional or family burdens? Or possibly difficulty with a child, spouse or boss? The Bible says that many are the afflictions of the righteous but the LORD delivers us from them all (Psalm 34:19). Not just some of them but All. Whatever opposition or trial you are facing know that it is no competition for your Heavenly Father. He is stronger, wiser and more powerful than any circumstances thrown your way.

Stand your ground, my friend. Plant your feet solidly on the infallible Word of GOD and refuse to let opposition knock you off your post. Use your faith to speak to that mountain and tell it to move (Mark 11:23). Go before the LORD and ask Him for guidance on how to proceed (Jeremiah 33:3). Anything the enemy throws at you can and will be handled by the Spirit of GOD and not by your power or might (Zechariah 4:6). Put on your armor (Ephesians 6:11-18) and take up your cross (Luke 9:23). Come on my friend you can do this. I promise. Our GOD is omniscient and omnipotent. Nothing can occur without it getting through Him first. GOD may not have sent this trial, setback or opposition but He promises that if you trust Him it will be used to work out for your good (Romans 8:28).

You see Rudy stood his ground even when his opponent appeared huge, overbearing and impossible and as a result he has become a part of football history. And with our determination to stand our ground against strong opposition, we too will be rewarded. We will be rewarded with intimacy with GOD, our name written in the Lamb’s book of Life (Revelation 3:5) and the sweetness of hearing the LORD our GOD say, “Well done. My good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:21,23 Luke 19:17).

I truly pray that this message blesses you. I see you planting your feet and standing your ground against opposition with a boldness like that of a Lion. I am ever so excited for you because it’s this very fortitude that is bringing you closer to GOD and into the fullness of His purpose.

What goes around, comes around.

It's true. When we use words to curse others, they often come back and hit us because that's the way the spiritual realm is set up. The curse causeless shall not come ... if the person the curse is directed at doesn't deserve it and it's not sanctioned by The Spirit of God, it's gonna hit the sender AND a person who doesn't know how to exercise Kingdom Authority. Think about that.

A Word in Season - 4/21/14

In 2011 Patti and some "random" woman who prayed for me at church in Las Vegas, NV told me God was calling me to speak. What? I was homeless at the time and didn't believe it. In March 2012 when I did my first live radio interview I was terrified. When I finished I was covered in sweat and so glad I only called in and wasn't seen. By the end of the month I'd completed three radio interviews. Two months later I started the Praying with Power and Purpose podcast. Then, Patti told me God wants people to see your face; you need to do video. I fought it for as long as I could - and although I'm still not a great speaker or on or off screen, the Lord uses me. I'm pretty excited about that. I'm sharing all this to say that you have to obey instructions as they come and God will pour in the power to accomplish His plans and purposes. Be encouraged.

But celebrate this: God selected the world's foolish to bring shame upon those who think they are wise; likewise, He selected the world's weak to bring disgrace upon those who think they are strong. ~ 1 Corinthians 1:27 TVB

Emotional Popcorn: My Thoughts on 12 Years a Slave by Zari Banks

I finally watched 12 Years a Slave. It was hard to watch and hard to turn away from at the same time. My emotions cycled through periods of fear, anger, confusion, irritation, sadness and I don't even know what else. When it won movie of the year at the 2014 Oscars the same thing happened.

On one hand I was happy that a movie with a large Black cast, director and writer won the award. But it's also ridiculous that such a horrible piece of our history is what's required to win such an award. Why do we only win awards when we remind others of the days of slavery and segregation, rape and families being torn apart? It's complicated, I know.

I also saw a lot of spiritual warfare in the movie so I'm going to spend some time examining it from that perspective. Slavery is demonic. Plain and simple. In the movie the historical practice of using religion as justification for slavery was obvious. The spirit of religion creates bondages of all sorts, and slavery is one of them. Slavery is not God's will but the enemy will deceive people to the point of ignoring God's love for everyone so that they read the Holy Scriptures incorrectly aka without a relationship with and submission to Holy Spirit.

In more cases than not in the Bible the word slave can be exchanged for what we might call an employee. When God spoke of slaves He reminded us from Genesis to Revelation through Abraham, David, Solomon, Paul, et. al. that slaves/employees were to be treated justly because masters/employers also have a master in heaven who is the ultimate judge. We have to understand that slavery that oppresses, beats, dehumanizes and kills is evil and cannot and should not ever be blamed on God Most High, creator of heaven of earth. But because the spirit of religion was and still is used to enslave people there are many in my community who are angry at God and therefore don't want anything to do with Him. It's the demonic realm that veils the truth of the written Word of God and that looses the spirit of religion to bind people. The door to the enemy was opened through racial slavery which wounded our souls, the blood of our ancestors is in the soil of this land and we and the land need healing.

So how does the Black community receive healing? It's actually very simple. It's spiritual warfare that's keeping us sick so we need a spiritual antidote. Jesus will heal each of us individually, we know this, but for us as an ethnic group to receive healing en masse there are a couple different ways I'm aware of that will bring healing to us. One is for Caucasian Americans to confess their sin and the sins of their ancestors committed in this land, repent and ask forgiveness of the Black community. You may think this is wild or far out, but it's actually happening all over the country in small groups.

Patti and I did this a couple years ago. We were just talking one day about something and the topic of race relations came up. She took it upon herself to confess her sin, if any, regarding Black Americans and that of her ancestors and then she asked my forgiveness. I received her confession, forgave her, and then I confessed my own sin and that of my ancestors that remained regarding my ungodly beliefs, words and actions regarding Caucasians. She received my confession and forgave me. Now Patti and I have a covenant that God has promised to use around this country because we broke layers of heavy, demonic chains in the spiritual realm. And, we're not the only ones. I've seen this happen in a few other apostolic centers in the nation. I know some want national apologies and that may not happen, and it doesn't have to. It can happen between a mentor and mentee like with me and Patti Cake. It only takes one powerful prayer warrior to drop the rock in the ocean and start the ripple.

Another way is for a deliverer for the Black community - like Moses - to rise up in this nation. The tricky part about this is human nature (go read Exodus for further understanding). Human nature poses a problem because we've seen a couple of leaders try to speak for us and fail - Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton - and the most successful - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. - was assassinated. When we look at this it's easy to see how the demonic realm fights the healing of Black-Caucasian race relations in this country. The one who followed God's plan to bring national deliverance and healing - MLK - was killed but the two who have their own agendas (self is always of the demonic realm) are still around and we're still sick.

Ok, so let me review the main points I want you to receive from this:
  • Black-Caucasian race relations in the U.S. is a spiritual warfare issue.
  • Sin causes wounds in the soul of the sinner and the sinned against. Only spiritual healing cleanses and seals the soul.
  • There's iniquity and bloodshed in the land - in the soil - that's crying out just like Abel's blood did. God hears it and I know He does because He's stirred my heart about it.
  • The spirit of religion is a demonic spirit. It's this demonic spirit that deceives and lies to people to tell them slavery that dehumanizes and oppresses is biblical. If oppressive slavery was ok with God He wouldn't have delivered the Israelites from Egypt and He wouldn't have given us a head's up about it as punishment for disobedience (see Deuteronomy 28:15-end). *I'm not stating that the Transcontinental Slave Trade was the result of disobedience, but it's possible it is. Serving pagan gods - any God other than Jehovah, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - is disobedience regardless of the generation or continent we're born into. **I hadn't planned to write that it possibly is, but that's what came out. I mean ... I can't deny it. God's command to have no god before Him has existed since Adam was created so it's just truth. When you worship anything other Him doors are opened to the demonic realm and multiplication exists in the spirit so an open door to one demon allows seven in (Luke 11:26). ***This is why we confess and repent for our sins AND those of our ancestors.
  • Two friends together can confess, repent and forgive and bring healing to their own lives, those of their future generations and the regions they have spiritual authority over.
  • This process of bringing these truths to the citizens of this nation is happening now. I'm involved in it (this post is my first public announcement of my involvement, I believe, but Holy Spirit has been training me and leading me into sharing this understanding in more arenas. It's been interesting.), Venner Alston who has an apostolic center in Milwaukee, WI, Vanessa Battle who has an apostolic center in Lilburn, GA and Chuck Pierce who has an apostolic center in Corinth, TX are also involved in healing the spiritual issues of race relations.
  • The enemy doesn't want people unified, they want people separated in every way possible because it increases their influence and the damage they can do. You know, God can't heal someone who says in their mind, "The White man is keeping me back/down/broke." Nor can He heal the one who thinks, "Black people are still oppressed because they've refused to assimilate into the culture of the majority of America." We have to love God enough to say I'm sorry and realize everyone has a role in their personal and national circumstances. Notice when Patti and I had the conversation I had to do my part, too. It wasn't one-sided.

This is heavy topic and though I have more to share, I'm going to stop for now. I'm very interested to know your thoughts on this post and would greatly appreciate any comments you're willing to share. I always hesitate a little to speak on race because it's such an emotional topic, but the Lord's answer to me not wanting to share was, "Revelation isn't only for you." I do realize that there's a large population of people who want nothing to do with God, Jesus and Holy Spirit, but They're the only ones who can heal this issue. No amount of legislation, political commentary, convention, panels or temper tantrums about racial bias will heal the deep wounds of this country. Until someone with spiritual discernment takes the lead not even the small groups (like Patti and I, Dr. Alston, Dr. Battle and Dr. Pierce) will get started.

Desperate Enough by Zari Banks

"I cry aloud to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy hill. Selah." ~ Psalm 3:4

I love the Psalms. Proverbs were my favorite until I was in the pit of desperation, but then I fell in love with the Psalms because I found rescue in them.
Last week in homeschool we started reading the Psalms in the NRSV Bible and Psalm 3:4 inspired a flood of writing.

My testimony begins with crying out to God to rescue or kill me (if you haven't heard that podcast episode it's worth listening to). I was instructed to read the Psalms. There are a several lessons in this so let's dive in.
  1. I realized I needed supernatural help so I called out to God. If you ever get in a mess but refuse submit to Him for help you'll never break through. I see this daily with people who come to me for prayer - they are failing full time but will not submit to God. I used to be that way. I refused to submit and failed for two years and lost EVERYTHING before I surrendered. Please don't wait until you lose EVERYTHING to submit. It's not worth it.
  2. He answered with instructions. I know from personal experience that we usually want God to rescue us without us having to do anything. We want Him to bless the mess instead of allowing Him to clear out and rebuild. You won't find that system anywhere in the Bible. This life with God is a relationship and there's give and take, action and reaction. He's already waiting and has victory laid out for us through Christ but we have to take the first step of believing Him and reaching out in faith to ask for deliverance from whatever situation we're facing.
  3. My obedience brought rescue and deliverance. Again being in the career and ministry I'm in I see people who receive instructions from God for deliverance - whether in the written Word or spoken by a prophet, angel or Holy Spirit - but they won't follow them. What if I'd told the Lord I've already read all 150 Psalms three or four times and chose not to obey? I could be dead today because the request for death came out of my mouth and the enemy would have loved to come into agreement to make that happen (John 10:10a). Praise God for grace because I was desperate enough to listen to His instructions. Also, Holy Spirit broke through my natural mind and gave me understanding that if I was told to read the Psalms AGAIN that whatever I needed to be rescued was in there and it was my responsibility to find it. You'd better believe that even while living in my car and hanging out at coffee shops and libraries during the day, I was studying five chapters of Psalms for about two hours a day for 30 days. And if you've read my book you see the first seven days are kinda whiny, but after that Jesus Christ is beginning to break through my ignorance and is transforming me from the inside.
  4. Psalm 3:4 "I cry out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy hill. Selah." Most of us know that selah means to stop and think (meditate, chew on) what we just read. Do you do it? I did when I read this last week and this was what I wrote in the margin of the page: 4/7/2014 When I pause and think about this I'm reminded of 2011. You [Jesus] came through for me through the reading of the Psalms. I have a testimony about the truth of this verse (Hebrews 10:23, Revelation 12:19). I'm living, walking, talking proof that this verse is true.
Do you see why it was so important for me to read the Psalms? Back in 2011 when I was searching in just the first day of reading the Pslams He had already given me a glimpse of victory through this promise in 3:4.

There are promises of rescue, breakthrough and deliverance, provision, vindication and much more in these 150 chapters. Everything from loss, to bouts of depression, rejection, persecution, etc. is mentioned in the Psalms. The Lord already knew the messes we'd get into and prepared a way of escape. The pit of despair that I'd so fabulously constructed for myself and believed no one else could ever relate to is even mentioned in the Psalms (40:2). Seriously ... there's nothing new under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:9). There are so many people who get tied up in court cases and instead of wasting all that time, money and heartache we can try our cases in the Court of Heaven by believing and decreeing some of the promises from the Psalms. Are people lying on you? The answer is in Psalm 15. Do you have fear of death? The answer is in Psalm 91.

There really is no excuse for anyone to live a less-than extraordinary life. God has promised us too much. He's written an 800,000 word contract (Bible) and sealed it with Jesus' blood. He cannot go back on His Word (Hebrews 1:3, Numbers 23:19). Do you believe Him? Or are you going to wait until you lose everything to begin searching the Bible with insatiable hunger? Learn from my former stupidity. PLEASE. I'm begging you. When you read your Bible each day, don't close it until Holy Spirit breathes on it and speaks something to you (James 4:8, Ephesians 1:17, John 16:13, Matthew 4:4, Matthew 7:7). Unless you wait for Holy Spirit, hear and implement the revelation you will continue to perish for lack of knowledge. I don't want that for you. God doesn't want that for you. You don't want that either or you wouldn't be reading my work.
