Teaching Superstition

8/31/2014

Luck and superstition have no place in the life of believers and we want to be sure we deliver the truth in its fullness to our children. In this episode we examine the origins of some superstitions and what the written Word says about them.

#FridayQandA 8/22/14 - What's UP with this Prophetic Word?

8/22/2014

Comments

God's a prolific parable writer so we have to go to Him for the fullness of prophetic words. I was asked again this week about birthing or stewarding prophetic words, but upon waking a couple days ago the Lord said we should look at things a different way. I share that different view in today's Friday Q and A.

I love to tell the stories ... I know that's an old hymn, but I DO love to share what He's done for me and how far I've come through deliverance. I pray the same for you - that you continue in deliverance and Kingdom advancement from glory to glory.

Whatever He Tells You, Do It by Tanny Garcia

Many of you have heard or read the part of my testimony where I disobeyed God's instruction to leave Arizona for Washington in September 2010. If you've heard that part you probably also know the consequences that followed were detrimental. The Lord desires immediate obedience, but if you can't obey right away do as soon as possible. It's to your benefit. Read more in this week's post by guest blogger, Tanny Garcia.

Anyone who knows me knows that I am absolutely awful when it comes to navigating across the city. If you're trying to get to another side of town, please don’t ask me. The beautiful thing about it is that I have made complete peace with it. I will graciously tell you, with a shrug of my shoulders, “I have absolutely no idea and you should probably ask someone else.”

So when I had to take my daughter to an ice skating lesson across town I decided to use the GPS navigation on my cell phone. I entered the destination address and proceeded to drive. Voila! I heard the pleasant woman’s voice say, “Make a left onto La Cienega Blvd.” Once I made the left she then chimed, “In 2.5 miles make a right onto the 10 fwy.” After I made the right and got onto the freeway, she continued with another instruction. It wasn’t until I had gotten into unfamiliar territory that I realized that this ‘voice’ would not give a new instruction until the last instruction was completed. But, I wanted to know what came well ahead. Not just what was immediately in front of me. Frankly, it was extremely frustrating, annoying and scary. I found myself turning down Noah’s music in an effort to listen more attentively and so as not to miss the next instruction. I humbly realized that I needed this ‘voice’ to direct me or I would be completely lost. And lost with an eager 4 year old in the car. I also realized that this ‘voice’ waited for me to complete the instruction given before proceeding to the next one.

#FridayQandA - What if My Assignment and Passion are Misaligned? ... and #Ferguson

8/15/2014

Comments

On Assignments and Passion: It's awesome that some are even seeking alignment! It's crucial in these days. I pray my answer is helpful.

On Ferguson: People love to protest for two minutes, but we all know that's not what brings sustainable change. Change has to start with each individual, but somehow that truth hasn't surfaced over the last few days. We can't ask others to do for us what we won't do for ourselves. As of right now, we're reactors instead of pioneers for ourselves.

If it's known the police are armed and looking for a fight, why present yourself as an intentional target? I personally believe it's unwise to risk any more lives in a protest when our community has no plan for moving forward. The rest of my opinion is in the vid.

I welcome gracious dialogue, but if you can't travel that route, don't even stop; just keep it movin'.

VIDEO: What I THINK I Look Like

8/10/2014

Comments

My 20th High School Reunion took place this past weekend and I had fun. A lot of fun. It was my first time out of the Bat Cave specifically for fun in longer than I can remember. And, guess what ... there was NO drama.

And, Saturday night I had the best make up I've ever had. I would've slept in it if that would've preserved it. No lie. I've always known in my mind that if I got hold of a professional make up artist I could actually look decent and I was right. God gave me favor and I will remain in His good graces so I can have that make up again. I might even start enjoying shopping, too. Did I say that? What in the world is happening to me?

Enjoy.
