This is the second installment of my summer 2014 series “Let’s Be Real Here,” that shines the light of Holy Spirit revelation on relationships and on the dysfunction we love and that our society promotes and profits from. I’m addressing these issues here because I’ve learned quite a bit - and am still learning, of course - about relationships that please Father. There are several behaviors that we exhibit that we assume are godly, but are not. If we want to experience the fullness of abundant life in Christ we must behave as salt and light; we have to stand out and show the world there’s peace and success within committed, loving relationships that allow men to be spiritual leaders of the home and women to come alongside them for the glory of God.
The past is no joke. It doesn't have to keep you bound, but every past relationship issue that isn't addressed will have a consequence play out in a marriage.
It's one thing to break a sexual knowledge soul tie, it's an entirely different matter to be restored and healed from a broken covenant of marriage. If you've had or come from a family with multiple marriages, the curse of covenant breaking, as well as of divorce, is in your bloodline working nonstop. That's why the success rate of marriages decreases as the number increases.
God is a covenant-keeping God and covenant breaking offends Him. Covenants are a step up - they carry more weight - from contracts which exist in the natural. When you break contracts in the natural you get taken to court. When you break covenants, stepping back into a place in the spiritual where you can be trusted again requires a significant amount of work. Why? Because covenants involve the shedding of blood.
The same holds true for sins committed in marriages. If domestic violence occurs in a first marriage that evil has entered the bloodline. It's one bloodline because in God's spiritual realm two become one. If this first marriage results in divorce and remarriage(s) the cycle will continue or manifest to the children from the original marriage unless complete deliverance takes place and the bloodline is cleansed.
Adultery works the same way. If there's infidelity in the first marriage, the curse enters the bloodline and the one who cheated will cheat or get cheated on in subsequent marriages. The one who was betrayed will betray or be betrayed in future marriages. Or it'll hit the kids. Deliverance is a must.
The same process happens with verbal abuse, neglect, inattention - you name it. We often call these repetitive behaviors "cycles." Cycles can be broken; bloodlines can be cleansed; souls can be healed and delivered but action is required.
It's fun to quote the promise in Galatians 3:13 - Christ became a curse for us. This verse is true; He did take our curses. But we also know that just because He took them doesn't mean we're walking in the victory of being free from every curse. If activation of Biblical promises was automatic every believer would go from zero to hero as soon as they accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior. Action is required. Trees are known by their fruit. Action is required. We have to seek the Lord and covenant with Him for the manifestation of the promise to live curse free. It's available just as all Biblical promises are available, but we have to receive them. Action is required.
This teaching isn't meant to get you down. It's meant to encourage you to seek after God to receive healing and the fruit of every promise. It's also meant to bring you revelation that leads to deliverance. It's meant to keep you from covenanting with a cursed bloodline. Especially pertaining to your marriage and future generations. You have to do something. You can't just sit back and hope "it" doesn't happen to you.
So what do you do if you have one of the pasts mentioned? You go through deliverance. You start it and stay in it until completion. For each area or issue. If you're already married, you don't have any time to lose.
If you're not married, yet, get on it asap because if you want a Kingdom spouse and are submitted to Father to receive one, you're not eligible to receive while walking in ignorance. You can move ahead and marry without His "YES" if you'd like. You'll end up in some cycle ... or worse.
If you have either of these cycles (curses) in your bloodline, you can begin by renewing your mind to God's truth. Decree this:
In Jesus' name I take authority over every relational curse operating in my bloodline (name those you know of - divorce, multiple divorce, domestic violence, infidelity). Holy Spirit, reveal all active curses so that I can I conquer them and walk in freedom and bring freedom to my future generations.
Don't stop there, though. If just making a decree one time was enough everyone would be free because we've all repeated decrees from somewhwere in our lifetimes. You fight for deliverance until Holy Spirit confirms you've been set free. The Lord always confirms.
