“I love the Lord; He heard my cries,
And pitied every groan;
Long as I live, when troubles rise,
I’ll hasten to His throne.”
These words were written by Isaac Watts in 1719--sung beautifully by many. However, Whitney Houston’s version is my favorite. I truly do love the Lord! I sing these words quite often now. But a few years ago, you could hear me arrogantly spewing words like:
“When it comes to money she can be a hero
She writes them checks with a whole lot of zeros..” (Mary Mary)
“The house I live in
I've bought it
The car I'm driving
I've bought it
I depend on me..I depend on me
All the women who are independent
Throw your hands up at me!!!” (Destiny’s Child)
Then, God was like enough!! He took me to a place with no checks and depending on me yielded no results. None! I could not THINK my way out of no job and no one hiring me after submitting almost 100 applications. Turns out I was NOT independent. Who knew?? God did!
He brought me to my knees (actually lower) in a place where only Him and I remained. My Father began the healing process over two years ago and now each day I’m walking into deeper levels of joy, understanding, peace and deliverance! And, it all started with submission and confession. As the Word of the Lord says, "In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths” (Proverbs 3:6).
I’m not perfect, but my desire is to acknowledge God in everything, and He has led me to where I needed to be and to the people I needed to connect with! I encourage you to be obedient to God’s voice and remember Holy Spirit is always with you.
You’re not alone. My book After the Sixth Day will give you a glimpse of my spiritual journey to revelation. I’ll warn you—it’s a rollercoaster ride because I was stubborn! Worried you don’t know where to start? I highly recommend "Healing Soul Wounds"—a spiritual development course taught by Zari Banks.
My testimony: This course helped me reach a whole new level of deliverance and taught me it’s a continual process! I’m so loving what God is doing in my life and the great news, the wonderful news, is that God our Father, Jesus our Savior, and Holy Spirit our Comforter are all waiting FOR YOU!! Confess and submit!! Live the life God planned for you. In case you didn’t know, He was thinking about you before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4)!
